| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted with a short beard consistent with his known portraiture. The emperor wears a laurel wreath and military paludamentum over cuirass, rendered in the characteristic provincial style of Bithynian civic coinage. The encircling Greek legend runs around the obverse field. The portrait exhibits the robust, slightly rough workmanship typical of Nicomedian civic bronzes of the early third century AD. |
