Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, stands facing left, her body turned in a dynamic three-quarter pose. With her raised right hand she crowns a military trophy — consisting of arms and armor mounted on a post — while her left hand holds a palm branch, a traditional symbol of victory. The figure is rendered with characteristic drapery flowing from the shoulders. The Greek magistrate legend fills the field around the composition, identifying the local strategoi responsible for the issue. The reverse type celebrates Roman imperial victory and is well suited to the civic coinage of Adramyteum under Hadrian.
