Additional information

Magnesia ad Maeandrum sat in the Maeander river valley of Lydia, a city whose civic coinage under Gordian III was administered through the office of a local magistrate — here one Demonikos, named in the obverse legend. Provincial bronzes of this conventus are catalogued thinly, and the "A" suffix on the VII.1#532 reference indicates a specimen recorded after the primary corpus was compiled, suggesting this type was unknown or unconfirmed at the time of original publication.
