| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, seen from the front, with the radiate crown rendered in characteristic provincial style. The effigy displays the paludamentum over the cuirass, consistent with imperial military iconography of the mid-3rd century AD. The Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The overall style reflects the hand of a provincial die-cutter working within the Mysian tradition of the Conventus of Adramyteum. |
