Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Empress Tranquillina facing right, wearing a stephane and elaborate coiffure, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Conventus of Smyrna. The portrait is set against a plain field, with the encircling Greek legend distributed around the periphery. The drapery folds over the shoulder are indicated with fine incised lines, consistent with Kymean civic coinage of the Gordian III period.
