Reverse description Aphrodite stands facing in the field, her head turned slightly as she raises one hand to style her hair while holding a mirror in the other, a composition evoking the Aphrodite Anadyomene type. Two Erotes flank the goddess symmetrically, one on each side. The reverse type reflects the strong cultic veneration of Aphrodite in the Maeander valley region. The ethnic legend ΑΝΤΙΟΧΕΩΝ appears in the field or exergue, attributing the issue to the city of Antioch ad Maeandrum.
