| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the rear, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the muscled cuirass rendered in fine relief. The youthful imperial effigy is portrayed in the characteristic provincial style of the Ionian mint. The circumferential Greek legend reads around the bust within a plain border. |
