Reverse description The iconic cult statue of Artemis Ephesia (Diana of the Ephesians) stands facing, rendered in the distinctive hieratic xoanon style with arms extended and the characteristic multiple rows of breast-like ornaments adorning her torso. She is flanked by two stags, and her elaborate polos headdress is surmounted by a star and crescent. To her side stands Sarapis, facing left, his right hand raised in salutation and his left hand holding a long sceptre, wearing his characteristic modius crown. The Greek legend is disposed around the field.
