| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and segmented cuirass. The imperial effigy is executed in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the early third century AD. The circular Greek legend runs around the bust within a beaded border, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. |
