| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Demos facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the Severan period. The laureate wreath is rendered with considerable detail despite heavy wear, and traces of drapery are visible at the truncation. The portrait conveys the idealized civic personification of the People of Hierapolis, consistent with the epigraphic legend in the field. |
