| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view seen from the rear, displaying the elaborate pteryges of the cuirass and paludamentum draped over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is executed in the provincial style characteristic of the Ionian mint of Samos. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor by his official titulature, partially legible on this heavily worn specimen. |
