| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, the effigy rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Smyrnaean coinage. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan is irregular, as is typical of provincial bronze issues of this period, and the surface bears an olive-green patina with areas of reddish-brown corrosion. |
