| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian facing right, depicted from a rear three-quarter perspective, a characteristic provincial die-cutting convention. The paludamentum is rendered with layered folds across the left shoulder, and the cuirass is visible at the truncation. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the bust, partially legible on this well-worn specimen. The portrait displays the typical mid-third-century provincial style associated with the Smyrna conventus workshops. |
