| Reverse description | The two-line civic neokorate inscription ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ is displayed within a laurel wreath, the leaves and berries of which are rendered with typical provincial detail. The wreath is tied at the base and frames the entire legend field, proclaiming the honorific neokorate status of the city of Cyzicus. On some specimens the zeta (Ζ) in ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ appears retrograde, a die-cutter's error documented for this type. |

Cyzicus held the rare distinction of multiple neocorate titles — the honorific granted by Rome to cities that built and maintained an imperial cult temple — and the occasional reversal of the zeta in ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ on this issue is a die-cutter's error that has since become a useful variety marker for collectors. Such spelling anomalies are not uncommon in provincial bronze production, where local workshops operated without the strict quality controls imposed on official Roman mint output.
