Additional information

Nicaea was among the most prolific civic mints in Bithynia under the Severan dynasty, and issues of Severus Alexander from the city are numerous — the mint was active throughout his thirteen-year reign. The city's output reflects its status as a major administrative center, rival to Nicomedia for regional primacy, a competition that played out partly through the scale and ambition of local coin production.

The reference VI#3156 places this within Waddington's corpus, where Bithynian civic bronzes are catalogued with varying degrees of die-match confidence.
