Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Severus Alexander facing right, the emperor portrayed as a young man with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The Greek imperial legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic Severan dynastic style with a laurel wreath rendered in careful relief. The flan shows the typical irregular fabric of a provincial bronze issue struck at Cotiaeum in Phrygia.
