| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and secured with a diadem, the effigy resting upon a crescent. The portrait is rendered in the typical provincial style of the Severan period, with delicate facial features and layered drapery visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΙΟΥ ΜΑΜΑΕΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ, identifying the empress as Augusta. The bust is set within the coin field without a border other than the beaded rim characteristic of Mesopotamian provincial issues. |
