| Reverse description | Frontal view of a hexastyle or octastyle temple set upon a stepped podium, rendered in perspective with multiple columns visible between the antae. The triangular pediment is surmounted by acroteria and bears a pellet or ornament at its centre. The architectural rendering is typical of neocorate temple types on Bithynian civic coinage, celebrating Nicomedia's status as an imperial cult centre. The reverse legend is distributed around the temple in the field. The overall design celebrates the city's prestigious twice-neocorate standing within the province of Bithynia et Pontus. |
