| Reverse description | A tetrastyle or distyle temple facade with ornately decorated columns is depicted, a pellet or ornament visible within the pediment. Within the intercolumniation, Tyche is seated left upon rocks, extending her right hand to hold a small stele or sceptre, and clasping a trophy in her left hand, symbolising the civic fortune and military prestige of Petra. The composition is characteristic of the monumental temple-type reverses issued by Petra as a metropolis of the province of Arabia. The encircling Greek legend in the field names the city and its metropolitan status. |
