| Reverse description | The local river god Stikros, personification of a river near Miletopolis, depicted as a semi-recumbent male figure reclining to the left in the conventional Hellenistic-Roman tradition. The deity holds a reed or long stalk in his extended right hand and rests his left arm upon an overturned water urn from which water flows, symbolising the river's source. The circular legend around the field names the magistrate responsible for the coin's issue and the city, while ϹΤΙΚΡΟϹ appears in the lower field identifying the river deity. The flan exhibits a characteristic crack and the surfaces show an olive-brown patina consistent with prolonged burial. |
