Additional information

Geta's elevation to co-emperor in 209 AD prompted a wave of provincial coinage across the eastern empire acknowledging the new dynastic arrangement. The Koinon of Cyprus — the island's federally organized civic assembly, which held the privilege of issuing bronze coinage in its collective name rather than through individual city mints — produced this piece during the narrow window before Caracalla had his brother murdered in December 211. Every coin naming Geta as Caesar or co-emperor became subject to damnatio memoriae shortly after.
