| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left upon a high-backed throne, his right hand extending a patera in an act of libation, his left hand grasping a long sceptre. The god is rendered in a classical, hieratic style typical of Phrygian civic bronzes of the Severan and Gordian-Philippan periods. A two-line Greek legend disposed around the field and in the exergue records the name and title of the local magistrate responsible for the issue, naming Aurelius Varus as logistes of the Cidyessians. |
