| Reverse description | Apollo seated to the right upon a throne or omphalos, his right hand extended or resting at his side, with a lyre held across his lap — the god's characteristic attribute in Thessalian coinage. The figure is rendered in a summary provincial style, with the seated pose and the lyre clearly distinguishable despite surface wear. The encircling legend in Greek records the name of the local magistrate responsible for the issue. This reverse type reflects the close religious association of the Koinon of Thessaly with the cult of Apollo. |
