Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I (Thrax) facing right, seen from the rear, with pronounced musculature visible through the cuirass. The emperor is depicted bearded, with a strong, coarse facial profile characteristic of his portraiture. The circular Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading from left to right. The style is typical of provincial Mysian workshop production of the Severan-to-Gordian transitional period.
