Reverse description A semi-nude male deity, identified tentatively as Zeus, seated left upon a throne or high-backed chair, his right arm extended outward in a gesture of authority or offering. The figure's muscular torso is rendered in the classical tradition, with drapery falling across the lower body and legs. The ethnic legend of the issuing city is distributed around the field in Greek characters. The reverse type reflects the civic religious iconography common to Aphrodisian bronze coinage of the Hadrianic period.
