Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted in three-quarter front view with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of Bithynian civic coinage, with the radiate wreath replaced by a laureate crown befitting his divine and military status. The surrounding Greek legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is notably cracked and shows heavy green patination with areas of exposed bronze.
