| Reverse description | Draped, veiled, and turreted bust of Tyche, the city goddess, facing left, with a crescent moon symbol positioned above her head, emblematic of Carrhae's lunar cult tradition. In the left field before her bust stands the figure of Marsyas, depicted facing right and upright upon a short column or base, bearing a wineskin over his shoulder — a type closely associated with Roman colonial civic iconography. The reverse legend, distributed around the periphery, identifies the issuing authority as the metropolis colony of the Carrhenes. The composition follows the standard provincial civic reverse type for Carrhae under Gordian III, combining lunar and Dionysiac imagery reflective of the city's syncretic religious character. |
