Obverse description Bare, youthful head of the personified Roman Senate (ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, with loosely rendered curling hair. The effigy is depicted in the idealized Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of provincial civic coinage from Asia Minor. The circular Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) runs around the periphery of the field.
