| Reverse description | Two deities depicted standing facing in the field: Asclepius at left, head turned to the right, holding a serpent-entwined staff (caduceus of healing) in his right hand, and Hygieia at right, head turned to the left, extending a patera toward a serpent that rises to feed from it. The figures are rendered in the Graeco-Roman provincial style typical of Severan-era Judaean civic bronzes. A retrograde Greek legend, ΤΙΒ ΚΛΑΥΔ ΕΤ Ϲ, identifying the city of Tiberias and a regnal year, surrounds the reverse type. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show green and brown patination. |
