| Reverse description | A tetrastyle temple with a peaked pediment is depicted in three-quarter perspective, its columns rendered with vertical fluting and resting upon a stepped podium. The architectural type is consistent with the principal civic temple of Anazarbus, likely dedicated to the imperial cult. The composition fills the central field of the flan, with the Greek civic legend distributed around the periphery. The date expressed in the Anazarban civic era (year 202, corresponding to AD 183/4) appears within the legend. The coin surface is covered in green patina with areas of cuprite, lending the reverse a characteristic ancient bronze appearance. |
