Reverse description The goddess Selene, personification of the Moon, seated to the left upon a horse advancing to the right, her right arm resting upon the neck of the horse in a graceful pose. Behind her shoulders appears a crescent moon, her principal divine attribute, clearly identifying the figure. The composition is characteristic of the Bithynian provincial coinage tradition, which frequently depicted lunar and astral deities. The reverse legend naming the issuing city of Prusa ad Olympum (modern Bursa) runs around the periphery. The engraving style reflects competent but provincial craftsmanship.
