Obverse description Bare-headed, diademed bust of the eponymous hero Kyzikos, youthful in appearance, facing right. The portrait is rendered in a naturalistic Hellenistic style, with finely detailed hair and a diadem encircling the brow. The legend ΚΥΖΙΚΟϹ is disposed in the field around the bust, identifying the civic hero. The flan exhibits typical irregular hammered fabric characteristic of provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period.
