| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her characteristic elaborate coiffure rendered with multiple horizontal waves and vertical side curls arranged in the distinctive Severan style. The empress is depicted wearing the toga praetexta, a garment of high imperial status. The Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΑ encircles the bust, reading around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the bold, high-relief modelling typical of provincial bronze coinage struck at Nicaea during the Severan period. |
