| Obverse description | Bare head of the young Marcus Aurelius, lightly bearded with a short beard, facing right. The portrait is rendered in the naturalistic provincial style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the mid-second century AD. The Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, partially visible due to the irregular flan. The effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar under Antoninus Pius. |

| Reverse description | Cult statue of Athena Polias standing frontally on a decorated rectangular base, her head turned to the left. The goddess holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long spear in her left; an oenochoe (wine jug) is depicted to the right of the base. The image reflects the venerated local cult image of Athena worshipped at Synnada, rendered in the hieratic, archaising style typical of provincial divine effigies. The ethnic legend of the city of Synnada curves around the reverse field. |
