| Reverse description | Turreted, veiled, and draped bust of Tyche, the city goddess of Gaza, facing right, rendered in the typical provincial style of Judaea under Roman rule. To the right of the bust appears the distinctive Gaza civic symbol known as the mem, a Semitic letter serving as the municipal emblem of the city. The Greek legend is distributed in the field around the effigy. The flan is broad and somewhat irregular, characteristic of locally struck provincial bronze coinage of the mid-second century CE. |
