(Translation: Emperors Valerian (and) Gallienus Augusti)
Reverse description A warship (galley) proceeding to the left, rowed by multiple oarsmen whose oars are visible below the hull, the vessel rendered in detail with a high stern and prow. Above the galley, three temple facades are depicted in architectural elevation: the central temple shown in frontal view with columns and pediment, while the flanking temples are rendered in three-quarter perspective, representing the three neocorate temple honours held by Nicomedia. The civic legend encircles the design, proclaiming the city's distinguished religious status as thrice-neocorate.
