Reverse description The iconic cult statue of Artemis Anaïtis stands facing, rendered frontally in the stiff, xoanon-like manner characteristic of her worship at Hypaepa and the broader Lydian region. The goddess is depicted in her distinctive polos crown and enveloping garment, her forearms extended horizontally with attributes in each hand, flanked by what appear to be stags or supporting figures on either side — a composition closely paralleling the celebrated Ephesian Artemis type. The encircling Greek legend, read in two registers around the periphery, records the name of the local strategos Condianus and the ethnic of the Hypaepan civic community. The reverse field displays good relief detail despite the worn and patinated condition of the flan.
