| Reverse description | A multi-line retrograde Greek inscription disposed across four or five lines, enclosed within a finely rendered laurel wreath tied at the base with a ribbon or bowknot. The wreath, composed of individual leaves and berries, frames the entire field and serves as the sole decorative element. The retrograde orientation of the legend — reading from right to left — is an unusual epigraphic feature documented on this series of Milesian civic bronzes commemorating the Didymeia festival. A partial circular legend is visible around the wreath in the outer field. |
