| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted from behind, showing the rear of the cuirass with paludamentum. The effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of the mid-third century, with the laureate wreath clearly distinguished atop the head. A continuous Greek legend encircles the bust, naming the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is irregularly struck, characteristic of provincial Ephesian coinage of this period. |
