Reverse description A warrior, identified as a heroic figure or personification, advances to the right wearing a short chiton that leaves the right shoulder and chest bare, carrying a round shield on his left arm. His right foot rests upon a ship's prow pointing right, a common iconographic reference to naval power and maritime identity. He extends his right arm forward while turning his head to look back over his left shoulder. The ethnic legend ϹΑΜΙΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing civic authority of Samos.
