Obverse description Confronted busts of the co-rulers: to the left, the radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius seen from the front; to the right, the bare-headed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caesar Herennius Etruscus seen from the rear. The juxtaposition of the two imperial effigies, a hallmark of Mesopotamian colonial civic bronzes of this period, emphasizes dynastic continuity. The obverse legend, disposed around both portraits, identifies the Augustus and his Caesar. The die work reflects provincial engraving conventions characteristic of the Rhesaena mint during the joint reign of 249–251 CE.
