| Obverse description | Bare laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right, with short curled hair and beard rendered in the characteristic Severan style. The emperor's effigy is depicted with a strong, mature profile, the laurel wreath clearly visible atop the head. The legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, separated from the portrait by a dotted border. The flan shows typical provincial hammered fabric with slightly irregular edges. |

| Reverse description | An agonistic crown depicted centrally in the field, rendered as a broad stephane or prize crown adorned with a row of pellets along its base and sides, surmounted by two crossed palm branches rising from within the crown, symbolising athletic victory. The crown is shown in three-quarter perspective with careful detail to its tiered and jewelled structure. The encircling Greek legend referencing the Severan Philadelphian games of the Nicaeans runs around the coin within a dotted border. The type commemorates the local festival instituted in honour of Septimius Severus at Nicaea in Bithynia. |
