Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by a five-line Greek inscription enclosed within a laurel wreath, the branches tied at the base. The text reads ϹΕΟΥΗΡΕΙΑ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ, commemorating the Severan Philadelphian games celebrated by the city of Nicaea in Bithynia. The wreath border is finely rendered with individual leaves visible despite surface wear. This type of agonistic reverse, celebrating imperial games, is characteristic of Bithynian civic bronze coinage under Septimius Severus.
