| Obverse description | Draped bust of Otacilia Severa facing right, wearing a stephane diadem, her hair elaborately waved and gathered at the nape. The effigy is rendered in the typical provincial portrait style of the mid-third century. The encircling Greek legend names the empress with her full imperial titulature. The flan is irregularly struck, consistent with provincial bronze coinage of Bithynia under Philip I. |

| Reverse description | Two tetrastyle or octastyle neocorate temples shown in three-quarter perspective facade, each with a triangular pediment supported by eight columns. The two temple structures are presented side by side, symbolising Nicomedia's twice-neocorate status — the honour of maintaining two imperial cult temples. A Greek legend in the lower field and exergue records the city's proud civic distinction. The architectural rendering is characteristic of the civic pride expressed in Bithynian provincial coinage of the Severan and Gordian periods. |
