Reverse description A tripod occupies the central field, rendered in a schematic but recognizable form with three legs, a central shaft, and a bowl or cauldron at the top. This sacred cult object is associated with the goddess Artemis-Diana Laphria, whose cult was prominent at Patras in Achaea following the transfer of her cult statue from Calydon under Augustus. The surrounding Latin legend references the Laphrian epithet of Diana in her Augustan guise. The flan is broad but irregular, with the design weakly struck in areas due to typical provincial hammered production.
