| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, with characteristic beard and imperial laurel wreath, rendered in the portraiture style typical of Antonine-period provincial coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's mature features with naturalistic detail. The surrounding legend in Latin runs along the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregular and shows typical characteristics of hand-struck provincial bronze coinage of the 2nd century AD. |
