Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the rear, the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass rendered in relief. The imperial effigy is set within a beaded border, with the Greek legend disposed around the periphery of the flan. A small circular hole is pierced through the right field, indicating post-antique use as a pendant or amulet.
