| Reverse description | Sarapis enthroned to the left, wearing the modius (kalathos) upon his head, holding a long sceptre in his left hand while extending his right hand downward toward Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, who sits obediently at his feet to the left. The composition reflects the widespread veneration of Sarapis in Asia Minor during the Severan period. The ethnic legend ΤΙΑΝΩΝ is inscribed in the field, attributing the issue to the civic mint of Tium. |
