Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view seen from behind, presenting the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is depicted in the provincial style typical of Mysian workshops. A Greek legend encircles the bust in the field.

In his raised left hand he holds an upright trident, the attribute of his divine sovereignty over the sea, while his right hand extends a dolphin downward. The encircling legend proclaims the city's coveted neocorate status.
