Reverse description Tyche of the city of Edessa seated left upon a rocky eminence, personifying the fortunes of the colony, holding ears of corn in her outstretched right hand. In the lower field, the river god Daisan (the Skirtus) is depicted swimming to the right, representing the river flowing beneath the city. The reverse legend identifying the Colonia Marcia Edessa appears in the field. The composition follows the standard Edessene civic type, combining the tutelary goddess with the local river deity in a manner well attested on the provincial bronze coinage of this reign.
